Grandma's House

Grandma’s House is a cozy 1,000-square-foot home just outside the town of Collbran, filled with warm, nostalgic charm. It offers easy access to the Grand Mesa (12–22 miles), Powderhorn Mountain Resort (20 miles), and Vega State Park (10 miles).

The house was built in 1889 from a Sears and Roebuck kit and originally sat on 120 acres. It also served as the Valley’s first post office depot.

Clint’s parents, Phil and CJ, purchased the property in 1979 and lived there on and off over the years. Clint purchased the property around 2003 and lived in the house while his daughters were young and his parents were living in Arizona. In 2017, Phil and CJ returned to the house and lived there until their passing in 2024 and 2026.

Today, the home is a short- to mid-term vacation rental, and we fondly call it “Grandma’s House.” We’ve tried to preserve some of its antique charm while honoring the family who once called it home. Many of CJ’s favorite furnishings remain, along with family keepsakes and artifacts scattered throughout the house that offer little glimpses into its history.

The home comfortably accommodates up to six guests. The full kitchen features a natural gas cook stove, commercial refrigerator, dining area, and large table and six chairs. The comfortable living room includes a wood-burning stove, two recliners, an accent chair, and queen-size sleeper sofa for additional sleeping space.

The master bedroom features a queen bed and reading nook, while the guest bedroom has a twin daybed with trundle. The home has one bathroom with a new tub/shower enclosure, sink vanity, and toilet.

Grandma's House comfortably accommodates 6 people.  

The home also has a good-sized utility closet stocked with cleaning supplies and equipment, along with a beautiful cedar pantry filled with more spices than you’ll probably ever need.

The laundry room is located in the breezeway just north of Grandma’s House and is shared with guests staying at Basecamp. The river is also nearby, with a rough, unmaintained path down to the water for those who’d like to fish or wade.

Outside, the covered front deck is a great spot to enjoy the scenery and watch the activity around you. The fenced side yard gives dogs room to run and play, while the backyard offers a charcoal BBQ for grilling and a fire pit for relaxing in the evenings. 

Please note: We’re currently working on adding another bedroom and bathroom to the back side of the house, and we’ll also be repainting and/or residing the exterior. Of course, no construction work will take place during your stay. As the project progresses, we’ll continue updating the photos and listing so you’ll have the most current information about the property.
